About Al Areen Development
The Areen masterplan is a large township project in Al Areen, in the south-west of Bahrain, led by GFH Financial Group. Announced as covering about two million square metres, it combines residential, hospitality, leisure and retail uses close to the Al Areen Wildlife Park and Bahrain International Circuit.
Hospitality is anchored by Raffles Al Areen Palace, the all-villa resort that opened in December 2023 at a ceremony that also launched the masterplan. Leisure includes the Lost Paradise of Dilmun water park, opened in 2007 as the region's first fully themed water park.
Residential communities are being built across the site, including Tilal Al Areen, a gated villa and townhouse community. Older parts of Al Areen also have freehold villas and plots that appear on the resale market. Buyers should check which cluster a home sits in, as each has its own developer and timeline.
The Al Areen Wildlife Park sits at the centre of the area and is home to Arabian oryx, gazelles and other native species. Together with the circuit, the Zallaq beaches and Bilaj Al Jazayer, it makes Al Areen one of the main growth areas of the south.
