Royal Golf Club
النادي الملكي للغولف
Bahrain's grass championship course, designed by Colin Montgomerie, with floodlit holes for evening golf and a DP World Tour event every winter.
About Royal Golf Club
The Royal Golf Club sits within the Riffa Views community in Riffa. Its main layout, the Montgomerie Course, is an 18-hole, par 72 championship course of more than 7,000 yards, redesigned by Colin Montgomerie over the footprint of the earlier Riffa Golf Club. It plays as a links style course in the desert, with fast fairways, open approaches and large, firm, contoured greens.
Alongside it is the Wee Monty, a nine-hole par 3 course suited to beginners, juniors and quick rounds. The back nine of the Montgomerie Course and the whole Wee Monty are floodlit, so golf continues after dark. The club has a golf academy, a golf shop, restaurants and a cafe, and the adjoining Royal Country Club adds a pool, fitness studio and courts.
The club hosted the first Volvo Golf Champions in 2011, won by Paul Casey. Since 2024 it has been home to the Bapco Energies Bahrain Championship on the DP World Tour. The 2027 edition runs from 28 to 31 January, and the venue is confirmed for the 2027 and 2028 editions.
Visitors as well as members can play, which makes it the obvious choice for golfers on a short trip. It also suits beginners through the Wee Monty and academy, and families using the country club. Book tee times in advance during the busy winter season.
